Toxic Gun Culture in the United States

Did you know that data shows that men are more likely to engage in gun violence ? I believe that media and culture has a negative impact on gun violence in the United States. I believe that video games, movies, and television shows does influences violent behavior in children , teens, and adults. I feel this way because in most video games and movies recently, there is always violence and never any kid friendly topics. So children, teens, and adults must think it’s okay to shoot others and harm others because they either play it often in games like it’s real life or they see it in a violent movie enough times to think it’s okay.According to NEWSELA, “Certain video games have been blamed for school shootings, bullying and harm to women.”This shows that media and culture does influence gun violence in the United States because not only does it influence gun violence it’s influences other things like bullying and harming women.NEWSELA also states, “Two teens were responsible for mass shootings at Columbine High School in Colorado.Later it was learned that the shooters often played violent video games.”This shows that media and culture does influence gun violence in the United States because if these students were playing violent video games and later became shooters then that means these violent games influenced them.NBCNEWS claims “…mass killings such as those in Charleston,Chattanooga and Lafayette continue with alarming frequency across the U.S — a recent study found one occurs in America every two weeks.”This shows that media and culture does influence gun violence in the United States because it’s happens so frequently and the mass shooters are usually kids who go to the school or have a relation with they place they shot up and most children in the U.S play violent video games. This is why I feel that violent video games and movies influence gun violence.
