Toxic Gun Culture in the United States

Did you know that data shows that men are more likely to engage in gun violence, just because of how the media perceives them? I believe that media and culture has a negative impact on people in the United States especially men causing them to participate in gun violence. I believe that violent video games, movies, and television shows does influences violent behavior in children, teens, and adults. I believe this because many are under the influence that these behaviors are acceptable since that person may see from the media that it earns them many rewards or they sees that person being rewarded.

I feel that media and culture does influence gun violence in the United States because  many are under the influence that these behaviors are acceptable since that person may see from the media that it earns them many rewards or they sees that person being rewarded. According to Issue Overview: Do video games cause violence? it says, “ They think video games are teaching children to behave badly in the real world. Certain video games have been blamed for school shooting, bullying and harm to women. Many worry that children are learning this behavior is acceptable from the games they play.” This shows that media and culture does influence gun violence in the United States because they believe that the people who play violent video games will alter to become more like how they are when they play video games violent. Also becoming violent to them they will be rewarded, since those actions when they play video games rewarded them. Also,”Issue Overview: Do video games cause violence?” states, “Two teens were responsible for mass shootings at Columbine High School in Colorado. Later it was learned that the shooters often played violent video games.” This shows that media and culture does influence gun violence in the United States because it show some connection between violent video games and mass shootings. Showings that aggressive video games can lead into having children or people become more aggressive and violent, which can be a result of people engaging in violence or gun violence. From CNN, “Do video games lead to violence?”claims that, “Video games, the academy noted, ‘should not use human or other living targets or award points for killing, because this teaches children to associate pleasure and success with their ability to cause pain and suffering to others.” This illustrates that the point system of violent games can persuade people into that those actions are okay and that murdering someone is going to given because they earned it by hurting someone. So in conclusion, one factor of why people engage in gun violence or violence at all is because of violent media and culture since they are impacted by the game that it’s okay or that they will be rewarded by murdering or harming someone.
